With Wonder Woman arriving in theaters tomorrow, June 2 with early screenings showing tonight; learn more about the special weapons used by the Amazonian super-heroine.

The Lasso Of Truth

Wonder Woman’s most renowned weapon, the lasso of truth isn’t just a golden rope used for catching and hog-tying opponents. Her magical lasso has the ability to make whomever is caught in the rope, tell the truth and obey the wielder.  In different continuities of DC, the lasso has been shown to contain other abilities as well. Wonder Woman even created a protective ring of fire with lasso once. It is virtually unbreakable and able to contain the strongest of combatants from Superman to Hercules.

Bracelets Of Submission

These metal bracelets are worn by Wonder Woman and other Amazons. They are indestructible and have the ability to deflect weapon fire, energy blasts and other projectile weaponry. The Amazons wear the bracelets as a reminder of their time spent as slaves. In other DC continuities the bracelets were never known to have any projectile-force capabilities but in Batman v Superman when Wonder Woman banged the bracelets together, they unleashed a blast of energy.

Though its look has changed over the years,Wonder Woman’s tiara is iconic. It can and has used her tiara as a projectile in the comics and animated adaptations. I am not sure if she will use her tiara as such in the DCEU movies but I feel strongly that she will; we shall see.

Wonder Woman’s shield is a new addition in the Extended Universe movies. Her shield carries the same capabilities as her bracelets and can deflect powerful attacks of any variety. The shield can also be used offensively to take out her enemies.

Sword Of Athena

This magical sword is the sharpest blade to ever be forged in the DC universe. Although the sword is not seen much in the characters earlier days, it is becoming more of a mainstay.

Wonder Woman hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action-adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
