Green Lantern or should I say Green Lanterns, will reach the big screen again. In an attempt to make up for 2011’s Green Lantern bomb, Warner Bros and DC Entertainment have tapped David Goyer to write the script with Justin Rhodes for Green Lantern Corps. Goyer will produce with DC heads Geoff Johns and Jon Berg executive producing. Fans may be a bit skeptical about another Green Lantern movie after the Ryan Reynold’s atrocity (no fault of his) but the prayers may have been answered.
Goyer has written for Man Of Steel and Batman v Superman which means Green Lantern will fall perfectly into the continuity of the DC cinematic universe. The new version is described as Lethal Weapon in space, and it’s based on a comic book origin story. The story was conceived by Goyer and Johns and will focus on Hal Jordan and John Stewart. Both are popular Lanterns from the comics; Stewart is an African American Marine sniper before he joined the Lantern Corps and the story will focus on his relationship with Jordan and the Corps.
Green Lantern Corps is set to fly into theaters 2020.
