Captain Marvel is relaunching and being written by Margaret Stohl, New York Times best-selling YA author.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Margaret Stohl had this to say about her new project, “She will be one of the most popular heroes on the planet — but that’s not something she is very comfortable with. And of course she’s lost a lot of folks that she’s loved, so she has to cope with that, too.”
Carol Danvers has been thrust into the spotlight after the events of Civil War II and now she must learn to balance a life of being a hero and popular celebrity figure. This task may be difficult with her role as leader of Alpha Flight, the global defense unit she helped create.
“She can’t undo the events of Civil War II, and those events will have changed everything — most of all Carol herself,” Stohl says. “Captain Marvel has suddenly become a household name — so what now? While she finds herself at the top of her game, she’ll also discover that being there means that game is more dangerous and complicated than ever.”
Captain Marvel is tasked with training a new generation of heroes to defend the planet. Due to Captain Marvel’s role in Civil War II, there are many fractured relationships and mistrust between the heroes of the Marvel Universe. Will Carol be able to regain those loyalties and mentor her new recruits in order to defend Earth from the growing number of threats in the universe?
