Yesterday 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse, the sixth installment in the franchise, earned a modest $8.2 million dollars domestically at the box office. Executives at Fox are predicting a $85 – $95 million dollar weekend haul which is well short of X-Men: Days of Future Pasts’ $110.6 million dollar take two years ago during Memorial day weekend. Seeing as Days of Future Past earned $8.1 million on its Thursday night preview in 2014, there’s hope that Apocalypse may have a similar weekend haul as its predecessor. The movie has already earned $115.4 million overseas and with a good weekend at the box office, can make back its $178 million dollar budget.
